2026 Akron Municipal Election Information
MUNICIPAL ELECTION ON:
- Tuesday, April 7, 2026 | Akron Town Hall, 250 Main Ave. | 7:00 am - 7:00 pm
CANDIDATES:
- 3 Trustee Positions all elected to serve four-year terms
- 1 Mayor Position elected to serve two-year term
ABSENTEE BALLOTS
- Requests for an Application for Absentee Voter Ballot, are available through April 3, 2026. Applications for absentee ballots are available online, in Town Hall, 250 Main Avenue, or by calling 970-345-2624 ex 3.
AKRON TOWN COUNCIL MEETINGS:
- Regular Meetings | 1st Monday of each month at 6:00 pm
- Special Meetings | As needed
CRITERIA TO BE ELIGIBLE TO RUN:
- U.S. citizen
- At least 18 years of age
- A resident of Akron at least 12 consecutive months preceding the date of election
- Registered elector
- Maintains residence throughout term of office
VOTER REGISTRATION INFORMATION
- To be eligible to vote one must be eighteen years of age, a citizen of the United States, and has resided in this state for twenty-two days and in the Town of Akron immediately preceding the election.
- Voter registration forms are available through the Washington County Clerk's office.
- Last day to register to vote in this election: April 7, 2026.
NOMINATION PETITIONS FOR CANDIDACY
- Available | Tuesday, January 6th, 2026, 8:00 am - MUST BE PICKED UP FROM TOWN HALL
- Must be Completed and Returned | Monday, January 26, 2026 by 5:30 pm
WRITE-IN CANDIDATES:
- Write-in candidate votes will not be counted unless an Affidavit of Intent has been received. An Affidavit of Intent of Write-In Candidate must be submitted to the Town Clerk no later than 5:30 PM Monday, January 30, 2026.
