The 2025 Electronics Recycling Event will be held on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, from 3:00 - 6:00 pm at Town Hall. This will be the last event we host as we take electronics year round during our business hours. The flyer and other pertinent details are below under the Sanitation section.

STREETS:

  • Provides construction, maintenance, and repairs of streets, alleys, sidewalks, rights-of-way, parking lots, bridges, diversion structures, storm drain systems, and irrigation ditches, performs snow removal and street cleaning, heavy equipment operation, as well as maintenance and inventory of fleet vehicles and equipment.
  • 2025 Sidewalk Replacement Guidelines & Application - Applications are due February 28, 2025 and repairs must be completed in 2025.

SANITATION:  

  • Provides routine garbage collection within the town limits for commercial and residential applications. Special collections are available, call Town Hall for more information (970) 345-2624.

    MONDAY: Green    TUESDAY: Pinkish Red    WEDNESDAY: Purple   THURSDAY: Blue
     
  • On the day of your route, please have your trash out by 7:00 AM.
  • Standardized cans required: see letter for details Standardized Can Required Letter
    • Only using standardized cans, no throw cans
    • No trash outside of cans will be disposed of unless you have called in advance to verify the extra charges for this service
      • Grass clippings and yard waste must go in cans, or you can take these to our free tree dump
  • If your trash day is on a holiday and the Town of Akron is closed, please have see the attached 2025 TRASH CALENDAR for the modified route schedule.
  • Landfill maintained by Washington County. Please see the link for details. *Added fees may apply if the town of Akron collects extra items.
  • FREE TREE DUMP
    Tree branches, grass clippings, and natural materials ONLY!!! NO palettes and furniture! Located East on Highway 34, South on County Road DD, through the draw, and is on the East side.
  • Electronics Recycling | Accepted at the Town of Akron all year long. Fees Apply. Yearly event held in the Spring.

SEASONAL NOTES:  

  • This summer, the Town of Akron, Public Works Department will be conducting various maintenance services throughout the town. 
    • 2025 Mosquito spraying has already begun for the season. The entire town and the golf course facility will be sprayed once a week, on Thursday, depending on the weather. Spraying starts between 6:30 PM and 7:00 PM and is typically completed by 10:30 PM.
