MUNICIPAL ELECTION:

  • Tuesday, April 5, 2022 | Akron Town Hall | 7:00 am - 7:00 pm

CANDIDATES:

  • 4 - Trustee Positions (3 - four-year terms & 1 - two-year term)

  • 1 Mayor Position (two-year term) 

NOMINATION PETITIONS FOR CANDIDACY

  • Available | Tuesday, January 4, 8:00 am - MUST BE PICKED UP FROM TOWN HALL

  • Must be Completed and Returned | Monday, January 24, 5:00 pm

AKRON TOWN COUNCIL MEETINGS:

  • Regular Meetings | 1st Monday of each month at 7:00 pm
  • Special Meetings | As needed

CRITERIA TO BE ELIGIBLE TO RUN:

  1. U.S. citizen
  2. At least 18 years of age
  3. A resident of Akron at least 12 consecutive months preceding the date of election
  4. Registered elector
  5. Maintains residence throughout term of office

WRITE-IN CANDIDATES:

  • Write-in candidate votes will not be counted unless an Affidavit of Intent has been received. An Affidavit of Intent of Write-In Candidate must be submitted to the Town Clerk no later than 5:00 PM Monday, January 31, 2022.

VOTER REGISTRATION INFORMATION

  • To be eligible to vote one must be eighteen years of age, a citizen of the United States, and has resided in this state for twenty-two days and in the Town of Akron immediately preceding the election.
  • Voter registration forms are available through any municipal or county clerk's office or in Town Hall.
  • Last day to register to vote in this election: April 5, 2022.

ABSENTEE BALLOTS

  • Requests for an application for an absentee voter ballot may be made orally or in writing. Applications for absentee ballots are available at the Town Clerk's Office at the Akron Town Hall, 245 Main Avenue, or by calling 970-345-2624. After the citizen has completed the absentee ballot application the Clerk will provide Absentee Ballots within 72 hours of receiving the ballots from the printer. Ballots are provided approximately 22 days before the election.
